Shearing Tips & Tricks Workshop

Date: Saturday June 11th 2016
Time: 9 am – 1pm
Location: Katian Farm; 45 Redden Road, Windsor Hants County
Cost: $10.00 to cover the cost of Lunch

Instructor: Brian Greaves; Silver Bend Ranch, Miniota, Manitoba

We are fortunate to have Brian in the province for several days in June and he has agreed to conduct a workshop for experienced shearers. Brian will share his experience with you and help you refine your technique, with the goal of improving your shearing efficiency. He will also discuss wool handling and maximizing the value of the wool clip. It is hoped that you will be able to share this information with your clients and this will improve their return on the wool clip. Improving wool quality helps to make the entire Canadian wool clip more marketable.
Brian moved to Canada from New Zealand in 1993, with his family to raise cattle and sheep near Miniota Manitoba. Though retired from shearing, Brian has vast experience shearing and handling wool. He is currently a Director of The Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers (CCWG) and a Representative of the Canadian Sheep Value Chain Roundtable. In addition, he runs shearing schools for the CCWG.
