The Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture has activated their Emergency Management Team for industry-wide response, which includes NSFA, the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, and Perennia. This team is currently in the monitoring phase and is connected with the Department of Emergency Management and Department of Natural Resources to ensure information is shared quickly and support is coordinated.
Their immediate focus is on the current and urgent risks farmers are facing. They also understand there will be longer-term impacts from this drought, and will be engaging with you on those in the weeks and months ahead.
They are putting measures in place to keep you informed and to help us understand what’s happening on farms across the province:
- This dedicated drought webpage
- Weekly “Drought” email: Beginning August 13, with frequency adjusted as needed, which you will receive to the email linked on your farm registration.
If you have immediate concerns or questions, please reach out to the NSFA office.
They will continue to keep you updated as the situation evolves. In the meantime, please take care and stay safe.
