Watch for Parasites

As many are aware, SPANS has been testing flocks this summer, and we just want to make you aware and to remind you to check your animals diligently as the egg numbers are drastically rising NOW. You will need to watch for anemia.

Please take fecal samples and make contact with SPANS, Gwyneth Jones gjones@smu.ca, and/or Beth 902-369-2876.

Another option is to check eyelids for pink. This parasite hits hard and fast and it’s typically to late to treat when an animal is already down.

This is earlier than last year and a rapid rise since mid June.
